Where to begin with Jessica Alba? Perhaps we start with me at 19 years old. (We’re going way back, friends.) I’m sitting in my dorm room, watching some new show called “Dark Angel,” and I see a girl who looks like me. Well, not “like me-like me,” but mixed and different and unlike anyone I had ever seen on TV. For multiracial gals like myself, she was proof that this acting dream of mine could happen – and could specifically happen for girls who weren’t the conventional blonde-haired-blue-eyed beauties – a sentiment I shared in this piece I wrote for ElleUK.

Her career highlights include fan favorite films, such as Valentines Day, and lucrative franchises (oh hey, Fantastic Four). All of this coupled with a personal life that boasts wife/mommy/yogi/brand ambassador to her name, and empirically speaking, she seemed to have it all.

But then you fast forward to 2012, when my fellow California girl launched a line of safe and effective household, baby, and body products, creating the now legendary, Honest Company.

Earlier this year, she made the cover of Forbes Magazine, highlighting America’s Richest Self-Made Women, and placing a valuation of the The Honest Company at $1 billion dollars. Drop the mic.

Then further tapping into her intellectual prowess and marketing muscle, she and her partner have since evolved the brand into a line of Honest feminine care products (seriously genius), and the most recent launch of Honest Beauty. The latter includes a stunning range of makeup to get you all dolled up without any worry about what you put on that bella face of yours.

Jess and I were connected through our makeup artist and Tig Beauty Guru, Daniel Martin, and I couldn’t be more pleased to share our Tig Talk with her today. Honestly.

  1. My nickname is: Jalbs or Alba.
  2. The first thing I do when I wake up is: Yawn (I never get enough sleep), wash my face, and brush my teeth.
  3. I can’t live without: Coffee, my kids, and inspiration.
  4. If I had one week to escape: I’d go to Rosewood Mayacoba, Mexico.
  5. If I only had $10 in my pocket: I’d save $5 and double down a bet on the other $5.
  6. Everything tastes better with a little: Jacobsen Salt Co. salt.
