If you’ve followed The Tig from the beginning, you’ll know that I have a deep love of words and quotations – from cheeky to inspiring, they are the golden nuggets that become my mantras; they are the best accompaniment to a moving meditation as we go through our daily rigmarole.

When I was in high school, my classmates and I were tasked with choosing a quote to accompany our senior year photo for the yearbook. To say I toiled over this would be an understatement. This quote was everything. This quote would seemingly be a reflection of me for years to come – and it was a decision I was making at (cough cough) 17, when clearly I knew everything there was to know about absolutely anything in the world. Or at least I thought I did. It was a dead heat between two quotes:

“Shoot for the moon. Even if you don’t hit it, you’ll always land in the stars.”
vs.
“Women are like teabags. They don’t realize how strong they are until they’re in hot water.”

For whatever reason, the former trumped the latter Eleanore Roosevelt soundbite, and the celestial quote became my high school headstone, so to speak.

It was with that thought in mind that I reached out to some of my close friends to share their favorite inspirational quotes. We all have that inner voice that cheerleads and champions and reminds us of our worth. So be it a difficult time, or just another day powering through your usual rote, here are the uplifting gems that my friends and I hold close to our hearts. Print them and tuck them on your desk, vanity, or nightstand for a little daily pick me up. Xx
